05/10/2010: Los Angeles County Supervisors Declare October as Filipino American History Month

LOS ANGELES COUNTY SUPERVISORS DECLARE OCTOBER AS FILIPINO AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH

Los Angeles, 5 October 2010 – The Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles proclaimed October as “Filipino American History Month” at the Board Hearing held at the Kenneth Hall of Administration of the Los Angeles County Building in downtown Los Angeles on 5 October 2010.

Photo shows the sponsor of the proclamation, Supervisor Don Knabe, presenting the scroll of declaration to Philippine Consul General to Los Angeles Mary Jo Bernardo Aragon.  Also in the photo are Ms. Malou Mariano of the American Coalition of Filipino Veterans, Mr. Gil Mislang of the Philippine Scouts Heritage  Foundation, Deputy Consul General Daniel Espiritu (1st, 2nd and 3rd from left, respectively) and other members of the Filipino-American community.

As part of the celebration of the Filipino-American History Month, a similar proclamation will be made by the City Council of Long Beach and an Exhibition of Philippine World War II Liberation Photos will be featured at the Long Beach Public Library and Information Center from 12 to 30 October 2010. ###end
