23/12/2011: ADVISORY #3: UPDATE ON THE IMPACT OF TYPHOON SENDONG AND INFORMATION ON RELATIVES IN AFFECTED AREAS
Los Angeles, 23 December 2011 – Further to our Advisory 1 & 2 on the aftermath of the devastation left by Typhoon Sendong (International Name: Washi) in the provinces of Northern Mindanao and Negros Oriental, the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles wishes to update the public on the impact of the typhoon as provided by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and contact information on how to trace relatives in the affected areas.
Updates on the impact of Typhoon Sendong
Per reports received from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), as of 6:00 a.m., 23 December 2011, a total of 102,899 families or 674,472 people were affected. Typhoon Sendong has left 1,080 dead, 1,979 injured and 1,079 missing. Cost of damage to infrastructure, agriculture and school buildings amounted to Php 1,033,131,515.00.
